| LSG CHARITABLE TRUST DONATION:Earthquake in North Bengal and Sikkim | |||||||||||||||||
| All of us were shocked to hear of the earthquake in Sikkim and North Bengal. Some of us even felt the mild tremors in Kolkata. Ladies Study Group has always tried to react promptly in times of crisis. The LSG Charitable Trust sent lanterns and torches to effected villages in Sikkim and North Bengal through Eveready Industries Private Limited and a very helpful NGO, Health Tourism, who were very familiar with the dire needs of the affected people. LSG Charitable Trust sponsored more than One Lakh Rupees worth of lights for people who had no electricity or homes and were forced to live in temporary shelters. We should all feel happy that we were able to stand by distressed people in troubled times. | |||||||||||||||||

| LSG Charitable Trust has also been giving donations every year to support education of underprivileged or physically challenged students. Some of the organizations and causes to have received the donations in the past few years are: Chief Minister’s Relief Fund – Bihar (for flood affected victims 2007), Pragati, High School for Deaf (counseling and educating hearing and speech impaired children); MCKS Food for Hungry Foundation; CHIP House Montessori, New Light, Kalighat (educating children of sex workers and other underprivileged), Loreto House Rooftop School and many more schools for underprivileged children in and around Kolkata. | |||||||||||||||||
