Charitable Trust Awards

With a firm belief that it is of crucial importance to encourage and recognise individual achievements and enterprise, the LSG Charitable Trust was created in 1975. This helped in instituting an Annual Award Scheme for women in West Bengal. Initially, the awards were given to three outstanding women for their contribution to the field of professions and careers, sports, creative arts and social work. The award, now is decided by a jury of eminent people and conferred on a single individual or organization working toward community development, care of the underprivileged or supporting a worthwhile social cause.

Award in the past few years has been presented to Paripurnata – halfway home for mentally ill women ; Mentaid – working with mentally challenged children; Oral School for Deaf Children ; the Old Age Home run by the All Bengal Women’s Association, Nari Seva Sangha – working with underprevileged women and Prof Dr. Manju Ray – Scientist.
